4 ways to choose the right college for you

Choosing what college is right for you can be a major decision that could have one the biggest impacts on your life. Some may even decide that the decision is so overwhelming that they conclude college isn't for them, leaving them to find an alternative route to succeed in this big world. Those who have decided to go the extra mile may realize how strenuous of a job just finding the perfect college may be, but that doesn't mean it's not impossible. This is why I have developed a list that hopefully can give guidance to those who have run into the rough patch in life called decision making.

4. Make sure you have visited the campus
do not go to a college based off of their reputation because they campus environment is something you would have to experience for yourself. In order to make sure it is a place you can see yourself being at for four plus years you would have to go check it out yourself by scheduling a tour. there is nothing better than getting to see what you would be getting yourself into before you actually get into it.

3. Make sure the decision is solely based on how you feel, the research you done and not the opinion of others
do not let your peers or guardians influence your college decision because at the end of the day it is your choice. Though your parents may be  paying, you should be able to give them options you have already considered and have them look over them so they can help you weigh your choices. Also don't go to a school because most of your friends are going there because you may think you will have a fun experience but you would also have to think about your academic experience.

2. Make sure the university is accredited and has great programs for your intended major
Another reason you shouldn't attend a school just because you will know people there is because not all schools have good programs accredited in every major. Finding a school that does and is what you see when you attend a college and being able to have most of your friends go there will be hard to find.

1.  Apply to at least 12 schools and make two of them a reach school because there's always a chance you can get accepted, the worst thing they can do is say no.
Never let anyone discourage you from applying to a school as long as you know your reasonings behind applying. Though every letter you receive in the mail may not be acceptance letter, the worst they can do it not accept you and still give you the opportunity to apply next year if they see that you have approved in certain areas. Also never sell yourself short because when office administrators review over your applications they want to see a well rounded student not just someone who's academically excellent in all cases.

With that being said, hopefully this was a confidence booster to ease away some of the decision making butterflies that stresses the average high school senior out. All in all make sure you know about the school you attend, why you want to attend, what will you get out of it, can you picture yourself there and what will be the next step to get you there “the only difference between a winner and a loser is the next step”.

Morning Rush

Rushing to school every morning is a hassle for the average city high school student, but imagine going through this experience with middle school students rushing to get to the same exact place as you.

At McKinley Technology Educational Campus this task is starting to become a nuisance for most High School Seniors. "Now that McKinley is a campus I don't like coming to school everyday because now you have middle school kids on the bus, and when you're leaving to get on the M31 (McKinley students transportation bus) they are on the bus and they take up so much space" said Mckinley senior Nya

At Rhode Island metro station there is a bus that gets the students. There has been altercations with middle and high school students concerning how the middle school students carry themselves in the morning"Middle school students create more chaos on the bus because they add on to the lack of seating and there are middle school kids all over the place jumping around while high school kids just want to relax before you have to go to class. " Mckinley senior Desiree Lester said.

This issue is not only occurring in Mckinley campus. In this case, going to school near the Nation's Capital and the White House creates an even more chaotic rush hour than the average city because travelers come here from all around the country to work or visit. "depending on what day it is like Mondays and Thursday rush hour morning commute is hectic and metro is hectic and there's too many people"said Lester

Transportation is only one of the many new changes, Mckinley Middle school is apart of mckinley and though mckinley is a big school half of it has been given to the middle school. “You never have too much space for a high school” says Nia Crawford.
